Privacy Policy
Underdog Studio is the trading name of Giovanni Calcaterra, a self-employed professional based in Milan. In this policy, “we” and “us” refer to him. This policy explains how personal data is processed when you visit underdogstudio.it or write to us, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 as amended.
Data controller
Giovanni Calcaterra, trading as Underdog Studio — Via Vigna 3, 20123 Milano (MI), Italy — VAT no. (P.IVA) IT14305460967. Email: info@underdogstudio.it.
What data we collect
- Emails you send us: your email address, your name and whatever you choose to write, such as your company and your request.
- Technical data: like any website, our hosting provider records technical logs (such as IP address, date and time, page requested) needed to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Website analytics data (only if you consent): information about the pages you visit, interactions with the website, approximate location, device and browser information, and pseudonymous cookie identifiers collected through Google Analytics 4. Your IP address may be processed by Google when requests are received, but Google states that GA4 does not log or store IP addresses.
Why we use it and on what legal basis
We use the data you send us only to reply to your request and, where relevant, to prepare a proposal. The legal basis is the handling of your request at your initiative and pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Technical data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
If you choose to accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand visits, page views and how visitors interact with the site, so we can improve its content and usability. The legal basis is your prior consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and applicable cookie rules). Analytics is not loaded if you refuse or have not yet made a choice. You can withdraw your consent at any time using Cookie preferences in the footer; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
We do not use your data for newsletters or direct marketing, and we do not sell it. This website does not use Google Analytics for advertising personalisation or remarketing.
How long we keep it
Requests and related emails are kept for 24 months after our last exchange, unless a working relationship starts, in which case the retention periods required by tax and accounting law apply.
Google Analytics event-level data is retained according to the retention period configured for our GA4 property (normally 2 months by default for a new standard property; it can be set to 14 months). Aggregated reports may remain available for longer. The cookie-preference choice saved in your browser expires after approximately six months, at which point we may ask you to choose again.
Who processes it
- Register.it S.p.A. — website hosting and email, as data processor.
- Google Ireland Ltd. — the site loads its typeface from Google Fonts; your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address. If you consent to analytics, Google also processes website measurement data for Google Analytics 4 on our behalf. Google or its affiliates may process data outside the European Economic Area under the applicable contractual and data-transfer safeguards. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google Analytics safeguards data.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site uses your browser's local storage to remember whether you have accepted or refused optional analytics. This choice is necessary to respect your privacy preference and is kept for approximately six months. No Google Analytics tag is loaded before your affirmative consent.
If you accept, Google Analytics 4 uses first-party cookies to distinguish visitors and maintain session information. These cookies are optional:
_ga— distinguishes visitors; default expiry: up to 2 years._ga_*— maintains session state for the GA4 measurement stream; default expiry: up to 2 years.
Actual cookie lifetimes may be shortened by your browser. You can reject analytics, accept it or customise your choice in the cookie banner. To change your choice later, select Cookie preferences in the footer of any page. Withdrawal prevents further analytics collection by our tag; we also attempt to remove first-party GA4 cookies from your browser. You may additionally delete cookies via your browser settings.
For additional information about Google Analytics cookies, see Google's cookie documentation.
Your rights
You can ask at any time to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format (Articles 15–22 GDPR), by writing to info@underdogstudio.it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it).
